How does it work?

TheraPaw is a free, user-friendly smartphone app, aimed at pairing people with various disabilities with dogs that can offer them individualized support. Whether you have impaired vision, PTSD, a wheelchair, or just need some emotional support, TheraPaw is the place to find a dog that meets your needs.

Step 1: Create your profile

For Humans Looking for Dogs:

Creating a TheraPaw profile is simple! First, answer a set of preliminary questions that will determine what type of dog would suit your lifestyle; such as your age, location, and activity level. Then identify specific impairments that your dog will need to be familiar with. You will be required to upload at least one photo and a doctor's note at this step. That's all there is to it!

For Dogs Looking for Humans:

The person that creates the account will be asked questions about the dog, such as age, location, exercise needs, temperament, and breed. Then identify any specific skills or abilities that the dog has been trained to do. Upload at least one picture as well as proof that the dog is registered with the United States Dog Registry. You're all set!   

​Step 2: Find your perfect match

Once you finish your profile, TheraPaw will sift through other profiles and display the ones that best fit your needs. Your closest matches will be shown first. You will be able to add profiles to your "Favorites" so they don't get lost. You can also message candidates and request a meeting. 

Step 3: Enjoy a lifetime of companionship and support!

Congratulations on finding the perfect service dog or emotional support dog! Since all TheraPaw pups are registered with the United States Dog Registry, their registration and protection will never expire. Take the best care of your dog, and they will take the best care of you!
